President Ruto Signs Supplementary Appropriations Bill, 2026 into Law

President William Ruto has signed the Supplementary Appropriations Bill, 2026 into law, officially increasing the national budget for the 2025/26 financial year by Sh393 billion.

The new total budget now stands at Sh4.695 trillion, up from the original Sh4.3 trillion.

The additional funds will mainly be used to settle pending bills, especially in the education, health, and security sectors. Key allocations include more money for the Teachers Service Commission, health services, and national security operations.

The signing comes shortly after Parliament approved the supplementary budget last week. The government says the extra spending is necessary to meet urgent financial obligations and to support ongoing development programmes.

With the increased budget now in effect, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) is under pressure to collect more revenue to avoid a bigger borrowing gap in the remaining months of the financial year.
