President William Ruto has nominated Mary Nanjala Kilobi, wife of Central Organization of Trade Unions leader Francis Atwoli, to serve on an important national committee.

This appointment places her among seven individuals selected for the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee, pending approval by the relevant summit. The move recognizes her potential to contribute to smoother coordination between different levels of government.

As a member of the committee, Kilobi will support technical and administrative functions that promote cooperation between the national government and county administrations. Her responsibilities include helping transfer constitutional functions and resources, resolving disputes through peaceful mechanisms, and monitoring development plans to strengthen devolution efforts. This role underscores the administration’s focus on effective collaboration for better service delivery across the country.

Kilobi brings a rich professional background to the position, having built a career in journalism and media. She started as an intern at Uganda Broadcasting Corporation before advancing to producer, editor, and news anchor roles. Upon returning home, she worked as a Swahili news presenter at KTN and has authored a Kiswahili learning book widely used in the region. Her experience as a communicator and motivational speaker adds valuable perspectives to intergovernmental work.

The nomination forms part of broader appointments aimed at enhancing governance structures. With her expertise, Kilobi is expected to play a constructive part in fostering unity and progress between national and county stakeholders. This latest assignment highlights ongoing efforts to tap diverse talents for national development priorities.
