Saboti MP Caleb Amisi Demands Release of Activist Bob Njagi.

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has strongly advocated for the immediate release of prominent activist Bob Njagi, who was recently arrested in Kitengela.
According to the legislator, Njagi was peacefully having tea when security officers picked him up without clear explanation. Amisi made the remarks after visiting the activist at Isinya Police Station in Kajiado County, where he confirmed Njagi was safe and in good spirits. The move comes amid growing concern from young people across the country about the activist's whereabouts following his detention.
Amisi described the treason charge as excessive and unjustified, emphasizing that the activist was not involved in any protests or demonstrations at the time of his arrest. He pointed out that treason is among the most serious offences in the country and requires meeting very high legal standards before being applied. The MP urged the judiciary to exercise fairness and mercy when handling the case, noting that Njagi is a dedicated family man who has been fighting for positive change in the nation. He also assured the youth that their comrade is alive and encouraged them to show solidarity.
Court proceedings have allowed police to hold Njagi for further investigations linked to allegations of incitement through social media videos related to Gen Z memorial protests. A Kajiado magistrate rejected a longer detention request and set the next court appearance for early July, when Njagi is expected to take his plea. This case forms part of wider operations where over a hundred other individuals were arrested during activities marking the anniversary of previous protests
The developments highlight ongoing tensions between security forces and civil society actors in the country as authorities manage public gatherings and online expressions. Amisi called on young supporters to gather at the court to support Njagi, framing the situation as an opportunity for the justice system to demonstrate commitment to due process. As the matter unfolds, many observers are watching closely to see how the courts balance national security concerns with individual rights and freedoms.
