Salasya Warns Sifuna of ODM Betrayal

In a social media post, Salasya urged Sifuna to reflect on his recent decisions and step back from the party’s internal battles. He claimed that ODM officials are quietly celebrating Sifuna’s struggles behind closed doors while plotting to end his political career completely.

Salasya traced what he described as Sifuna’s double standards back to the period before the death of former ODM leader Raila Odinga. He accused Sifuna of helping draft agreements between ODM and UDA while publicly denying close ties between the parties. Salasya expressed disappointment that Sifuna did not fully commit to the Linda Mwananchi movement after its launch, seeing it as a chance to build something independent

The lawmaker advised Sifuna to accept the National Executive Council’s decision to remove him from the secretary-general position. He warned that continuing to fight for the role would only dim his political future. Salasya emphasized that lowering egos and making strategic choices earlier could have preserved Sifuna’s influence within the party.

The remarks come as the Linda Mwananchi movement, led by Sifuna alongside MPs Babu Owino and Siaya Governor James Orengo, prepares rallies in Kisii and Nyamira counties. Originally scheduled for June 26, the events were postponed to accommodate anniversary protests marking the 2024 demonstrations. The political drama highlights deepening divisions within ODM as factions position themselves for the future.
