Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula has supported Parliament’s move to remove the mandatory livestreaming of election results from polling stations, arguing that votes should be counted and results announced at the stations where ballots are cast.

Speaking at Ongaroi Village in Chakol South Ward, Teso South, Busia County, Savula commended MPs for backing the removal of the requirement, maintaining that the law provides for votes to be counted and declared at individual polling stations.

He argued that results announced at polling stations should form the basis of the final electoral outcome, dismissing opposition concerns over the decision to scrap mandatory livestreaming.

"I thank Members of Parliament for doing a good job this week by removing the provision that would have made it mandatory for IEBC to livestream election results from polling stations. The Constitution and the IEBC Act provide for votes to be counted at the polling station, where the results should also be declared,” ~ Ayub Savula

Savula also expressed confidence that President William Ruto would win the next General Election, attributing his optimism to the President’s development record.

"We are confident that President William Ruto will win the next General Election because of the work he has done.” ~ Ayub Savula

His remarks come amid political debate over electoral reforms and the measures needed to enhance transparency and public confidence in Kenya’s electoral process.
