Savula Turns up heat on Gachagua

Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula has called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to have former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua record a statement over his alleged links to suspects in the murder of mental health doctor Victoria Mutiso.
Savula says Gachagua should appear before detectives on Monday to shed light on his alleged interactions with two people linked to the investigation into Mutiso’s death.
Mutiso was killed on July 29 in Nairobi’s Upper Hill area, with detectives continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Savula, who is also President William Ruto’s deputy campaign coordinator in Western Kenya, said Gachagua should cooperate with the investigators and answer questions arising from the case.
He argued that the former deputy president should clarify the nature of his relationship with the individuals being investigated, allowing detectives to establish the facts.
"Gachagua must appear before the DCI and explain his links to the individuals being investigated. If there is nothing to hide, he should record his statement and allow the investigators to establish the truth,” Ayub Savula
The demand comes days after DCI Director Mohamed Amin disclosed details of the investigation.
Speaking to journalists on Friday, Amin said detectives had established that Gachagua was in communication with one of the suspects in Mutiso’s murder.
The DCI boss also linked Gachagua to communication with a boda boda rider allegedly connected to the case.
The revelations have triggered fresh calls for Gachagua to appear before investigators and explain his alleged links to the people at the centre of the probe.
Savula has now put pressure on the investigative agency to ensure the former deputy president records a statement as detectives continue piecing together events surrounding Mutiso’s death.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no conclusion has been made regarding Gachagua’s alleged connection to the murder.
