Senegal Parade AFCON Trophy Ahead of Friendly Against Peru in Paris

The Senegal national team proudly paraded the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy at the Stade de France in Paris on Saturday, 28 March 2026.
Captain Kalidou Koulibaly and his teammates, including goalkeeper Édouard Mendy, carried the trophy onto the pitch for a lap of honour in front of thousands of excited Senegalese fans. This happened before their international friendly match against Peru.
The parade came after a pre-match concert by Senegalese music legend Youssou N’Dour. Fans cheered loudly as the players celebrated with the trophy, showing strong support for the team. Senegal later won the friendly match 2-0 against Peru, making the day even more memorable for the Lions of Teranga and their supporters in the French capital.
This event has sparked a lot of talk because CAF recently stripped Senegal of the 2025 AFCON title following controversy in the final against Morocco and awarded it to Morocco instead. Senegal is appealing the decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Many see the parade as a bold show of defiance and pride by the Senegalese team and fans. The moment has gone viral and continues to generate strong reactions online.
