Sifuna Ramps Up Linda Mwananchi Drive in Kakamega
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna is leading an intensified round of grassroots mobilisation for the Linda Mwananchi movement across Kakamega County as preparations for the 2027 general election gather pace.
Today Sunday he began the day by attending a church service at the ACK Cathedral in Mumias Town before launching a full programme of political engagements that will cover four constituencies. The effort forms part of a broader push to strengthen the movement’s presence in Western regions and expand its network of supporters.
The day’s itinerary is carefully structured to maximise contact with residents. Activities open in Mumias West Constituency with interactions in Mumias Town, followed by a noon stop at Navakholo Market in Navakholo Constituency. The team will then move to Malava Constituency at two o’clock and proceed to Lugari Constituency at four o’clock, with the final gathering planned for Lumakanda. These stops are designed to allow direct conversation with communities and to present the movement’s people-centred message.
Linda Mwananchi continues to position itself as a platform focused on ordinary citizens, relying on public rallies and local engagements rather than remaining confined to established party structures. Its leaders have increasingly operated outside the traditional framework of the Orange Democratic Movement as they work to build an independent grassroots base. The current Kakamega tour builds on recent activity that has taken the group deeper into the region.
On Friday the team visited several centres in Busia County, including Bumala, Murumba, Butula and Nambale, where they met residents and shared their agenda. The following day they entered Kakamega, moving through Sabatia, Isulu and Shinyalu before closing with a major rally in Kakamega town. That outing brought Sifuna together with Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya and Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale as they sought to deepen local connections.
Western areas are emerging as an important political arena in the run-up to the next national polls, and the sustained presence of Linda Mwananchi reflects a deliberate strategy to consolidate influence there. By combining church appearances, market visits and evening gatherings, the movement aims to maintain visibility and demonstrate commitment to continuous engagement. The ongoing schedule signals that its leaders intend to keep the momentum high as the election season approaches.
