Sifuna says,Donated sound truck stoned in Kisumu

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has reported that a high-end sound truck, recently donated to bolster his ongoing Linda Mwananchi grassroots mobilization tour, was attacked with stones in Kisumu County shortly after being handed over to his team.

The incident occurred in the Riat area (also referenced near Kona Mbaya trading centre) as the vehicle was en route from Nairobi to Kakamega for a scheduled rally. According to Sifuna and shared footage, unknown assailants hurled rocks at the multimillion-shilling truck, smashing its windscreen and causing panic among occupants, though no injuries were immediately reported.

The truck, equipped with a powerful public address system and branded for the campaign, was intended to support Sifuna's efforts in rallying support across western Kenya amid shifting political alliances following the death of Raila Odinga and internal ODM dynamics. Sifuna described the vandalism as shocking and deliberate, occurring mere hours after the donation, highlighting tensions in the region where the tour aims to engage communities. He shared videos on social media capturing the moment stones rained down on the vehicle during transit.

No arrests have been announced, and police response remains unclear from available reports. The episode underscores potential resistance to Sifuna's independent mobilization activities, separate from mainstream party structures, as he pushes forward with planned events in Kakamega and beyond despite the setback. Sifuna has vowed that the tour will continue undeterred, framing the attack as an attempt to intimidate grassroots efforts in the area.
