Six Iranians in Ksh.8.2B Methamphetamine case plead guilty.

Six Iranian nationals facing charges of trafficking narcotic drugs valued at Ksh.8.2 billion have entered guilty pleas to the drug trafficking offenses.

The six individuals—Jasem Darzaen Nia, Nadeem Jadgai, Imran Baloch, Hassan Baloch, Rahim Baksh, and Imtiyaz Daryayi—were apprehended in the Indian Ocean on October 25, 2025, while transporting 1,036 kilograms of methamphetamine.

In a statement released on Monday, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) confirmed that the suspects admitted guilt to the methamphetamine trafficking charges in proceedings before Chief Magistrate Anthony Mwicigi at Shanzu Law Courts.

"The charges were preferred under Section 4(a)(ii) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act, 1994, as amended in 2022, which the prosecution said has significantly strengthened Kenya’s legal framework against large-scale drug trafficking," ODPP noted in a statement.

The prosecution informed the court that the narcotics had been hidden on board a stateless vessel called Mashaallah, a tactic commonly employed by international criminal organizations to avoid detection and legal accountability

The DPP’s team has requested a two-week period to compile and submit the full case facts, asking that the matter be heard on January 30, 2026, at the Kenya Navy base in Mtongwe, where both the impounded vessel and the substantial drug evidence are currently stored.

In the meantime, the court has ordered the accused to remain in custody at Shimo La Tewa prison until the scheduled hearing.
