SRC Approves Higher Salaries And Revised Allowances For Civil Servants.
The Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) has given the green light to increased pay and updated allowances for civil servants across Kenya, bringing welcome relief to thousands of public workers.
These changes, which will reflect in the August payroll, aim to address rising living costs and recognize the vital role government employees play in delivering services to citizens. The revisions cover various job groups, offering better basic salaries along with enhanced housing support tailored to different duty stations.
At the senior levels, Grade E4 officers will now earn between Sh312,000 and Sh576,000 monthly, while those in Grade E3 can receive up to Sh400,000 in basic pay plus a house allowance of up to Sh100,000 for those working in Nairobi. This adjustment reflects the high responsibilities carried by top public servants in policy and administration roles. For mid-level staff in Grades C1 to C5, the new scales range from Sh38,000 to Sh105,000, providing a meaningful uplift that could improve financial stability for many families.
Lower cadre employees in Grade A3 will see their earnings move to between Sh20,600 and Sh23,700, supplemented by a house allowance of up to Sh3,000 depending on where they are posted. These targeted improvements are expected to boost morale within the public service and help attract and retain skilled professionals in key sectors. The SRC's decision comes after careful review of economic factors, ensuring the adjustments remain sustainable for the national budget.
