Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has rewarded a determined young UDA aspirant with a brand-new motorbike after being deeply impressed by his extraordinary effort to attend a key political gathering at State House

The beneficiary, 24-year-old Nehemiah Rotich—a student at Cambridge Universal College in Eldoret and an aspiring MCA in Koitugum Ward, Chebororwa Division, Cherangany—embarked on an arduous 405-kilometer bicycle journey from his home area in Trans Nzoia County to Nairobi. Riding his humble Mamba bicycle, Rotich pedaled for five full days, relying solely on simple meals of ugali and vegetables to sustain himself along the way.

Facing financial hardships that almost derailed his plans, Rotich's motivation stemmed from his strong desire to participate in the UDA aspirants' meeting convened by President William Ruto. His commitment to public service and helping vulnerable families in his community drove him to overcome the challenges of the long, grueling trip.

Moved by this display of grit and passion, MP Sudi announced the generous gift on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, through his social media channels. In his post, Sudi praised Rotich's resolve, stating: “I’ve decided to gift a motorbike to Nehemiah Rotich, a 24-year-old UDA aspirant from Cherangany, after seeing his determination to attend the aspirants’ meeting at State House despite cycling over 405km on his Mamba bicycle with minimal resources. He pedalled for 5 days, surviving on ugali and mboga, driven by his passion to lead and help vulnerable families in his village.”

Sudi further explained the practical benefits: “Nehemiah, a student at Cambridge Universal College in Eldoret, aims to vie for the MCA seat in Koitugum, Chebororwa division. The motorbike will boost his business ventures and mobility as he pursues his political dreams.” He concluded with encouragement: “As Nehemiah Rotich sets sail on the tides of change, his spirit unbroken, I’m wishing him a victorious journey as he rides to success in the Cherangany/Chebororwa Ward.”

The gesture comes amid a surge in UDA candidatures nationwide, with thousands vying for various seats ahead of the 2027 elections—including 10,230 for MCA positions alone. Rotich's story has resonated as an inspiring example of grassroots dedication in Kenyan politics, earning recognition from influential figures like Sudi.
