Ten People Killed in Horrific Matatu Crash on Gilgil-Nakuru Highway

Ten people lost their lives after a matatu rammed into a stalled trailer on the busy Gilgil-Nakuru highway early on Saturday morning.
The tragic accident occurred at around 6:30 a.m. near the Gilgil area when the matatu, which was travelling from Nakuru towards Nairobi, collided with the stationary trailer.
According to police reports, the trailer had broken down and was parked on the side of the road, but it was not properly marked with warning signs. The matatu driver is believed to have been moving at high speed and failed to notice the stalled vehicle in time. Rescue teams rushed to the scene and found the matatu badly damaged, with several passengers trapped inside the wreckage.
The injured victims were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to the mortuary. Police have launched investigations to determine the exact cause of the crash. This latest road accident has once again highlighted the dangers of poor vehicle maintenance and the need for better enforcement of road safety rules on Kenya’s major highways.
