Three KDF Recruits Die During Routine Training in Eldoret.

Three recruits of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) have tragically lost their lives after suffering serious medical issues during a normal training session at the Defence Forces Recruits Training School (DFRTS) in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
The sad event happened on Thursday, January 29, 2026, while the recruits were taking part in a planned endurance drill as part of their routine training program. KDF shared the news in an official statement released on Friday.
According to the military, the three recruits suddenly became unwell during the exercise. Medical staff at the training site quickly stepped in to help them. They were then rushed to Eldoret Regional Hospital for more advanced treatment. Sadly, even after all efforts by the doctors and teams there, the recruits passed away.
KDF has already contacted the families of those who died and is giving them full support during this hard time. The forces expressed deep sorrow and sent heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, fellow recruits, and everyone affected by the loss.
A full investigation is now underway following standard military rules to find out exactly what led to the incident. The results will help improve safety measures and care for all recruits in training going forward.
KDF stressed its strong commitment to keeping high safety standards at all its training centers. This remains a very painful moment for the entire military community.
