Tragedy as father, two children killed in Busia house fire
A devastating house fire in western Kenya claimed the lives of a father and his two young children early Friday morning.
The tragic incident occurred in Bulagu village, Budalang'i sub-county, Busia County, while the family was asleep. The blaze engulfed their home, leaving no chance for escape.
The victims were identified as Patrick Bahati, the father, along with his two children—one a Grade Seven student and the other in Grade Two.
A neighbor, alerted by desperate cries for help around 1 a.m., rushed to the scene but found the flames had already spread intensely, making any rescue impossible.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire, which remains unknown at this time.
Bunyala Sub-County OCPD Lawrenias Odinga confirmed the deaths and the ongoing probe.
The bodies of the deceased have been moved to the Port Victoria Hospital mortuary for further procedures.
