Tragic Attack at Uganda Daycare Centre Leaves Four Children Dead

A man forced his way into a daycare centre in Kampala, Uganda, and killed four young children in a shocking incident that has left the community in deep sorrow.
The attack took place at the Ggaba Early Childhood Development Program school in Makindye Division. The suspect entered the premises pretending to be a parent, spoke briefly with the administrator, and then locked the gate before pulling out a weapon and stabbing the children.
Teachers quickly raised the alarm as the man moved through the centre attacking any child he encountered. The victims, all toddlers, died at the scene. A security guard from a nearby church managed to stop the suspect from escaping. Angry residents gathered around the man, but police arrived and fired shots into the air to disperse the crowd before taking him into custody.
Uganda Police Inspector General Abas Byakagaba has appealed for calm and asked anyone with useful information about the suspect to come forward and assist with investigations. The motive behind the attack remains unknown. The school is now filled with a heavy atmosphere of grief as parents and residents try to come to terms with the loss of the innocent children.
