Two Dead After Lorry Crashes Into Parked Trucks in Kisii

A tragic road accident in Kisii Central Sub-county claimed two lives early on Sunday morning when a lorry lost control and slammed into several parked trucks at Tosha Petrol Station.

The incident happened around 4:30am along the busy Kisii-Keroka Road, leaving the victims with no chance of survival. Emergency teams and police quickly responded to the scene to manage the aftermath and begin investigations.

The Isuzu FVR lorry, which was transporting cereals, veered off and collided with eight stationary trucks at the petrol station. The two occupants inside the moving vehicle died instantly from the impact. No other casualties were reported among those at the station, but the crash caused significant damage and disrupted traffic in the area.

Authorities have launched a probe to determine the exact cause of the accident, with preliminary efforts focused on clearing the wreckage from the road. Motorists using the route faced delays as responders worked to restore normal flow. Officials are reminding drivers to stay alert, particularly during early morning hours when fatigue or poor visibility can increase risks.

This latest incident adds to concerns about road safety in the country, where similar crashes continue to claim lives. Local leaders and transport agencies often call for stricter enforcement of traffic rules and better vehicle maintenance to prevent such tragedies on major highways. Families of the deceased are receiving support as investigations proceed.
