Two People Killed in Fatal Road Crash on Southern Bypass in Langata

A devastating road accident along Nairobi's Southern Bypass in the Langata area has left two people dead. The victims, who were both drivers of heavy commercial vehicles, died on the spot following a violent collision. The incident took place as the trucks were traveling in the same direction, from Kikuyu towards the city centre.

Reports from the scene indicate that the crash was triggered by a reckless overtaking attempt involving one of the speeding trucks. The two lorries collided side-on, resulting in severe damage and the instant deaths of the drivers. Authorities confirmed that no additional injuries were reported, although the drivers' bodies remained trapped in the mangled wreckage for some time after the impact.

The section of the Southern Bypass where the accident occurred is notorious for frequent crashes and high fatality rates, particularly among pedestrians crossing from nearby Kibra and Langata neighbourhoods. Langata traffic police quickly responded to the scene, cordoned off the area, launched an investigation, and worked to clear the resulting traffic congestion on this busy highway. The bodies are expected to be transferred to the city mortuary following completion of necessary formalities.
