UDA Addresses Claims of Firing Major Party Official

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has dismissed a viral notice circulating online that claimed the party had sacked its ICT Director, Elijah Sawe.

The fake document alleged that Sawe was relieved of his duties due to financial irregularities and unauthorised disclosure of data. It further stated that he was no longer allowed to handle any party-related matters, and UDA would not be responsible for any actions or commitments he might make.

In an official statement shared on its verified social media channels, UDA described the notice as completely false and not from any authorised party source. The party pointed out that genuine UDA announcements are always signed by Secretary General Hassan Omar, include his signature and the date, and follow a specific format—none of which appeared on the viral poster, despite it using the party's logo and colours. UDA urged the public to ignore the document and to always check information directly from official party pages.

This fake notice emerged during a period of heightened political activity in Kenya, as parties like UDA strengthen their grassroots structures through county-level elections, while others in the opposition make leadership changes. The party, led by National Chairperson Cecily Mbarire and Secretary General Hassan Omar, stressed the importance of verifying claims to avoid misinformation. No official action against Sawe has been confirmed by UDA.
