Veteran singer Kidum caught in Nairobi crash crisis.
Veteran Burundian-Kenyan singer Kidum Kibido,born Jean- Pierre Nimbona, has broken his silence following widespread reports linking him to a road accident in Nairobi involving an overturned Range Rover.
Reports shows that Kidum kibido a popular Burundian - kenyan musician was reportedly involved in a road accident on 14th May when he was travelling with a fellow musician Brian Sigu.
Reports affirms that the crush involved a vintage Range Rover that sustained a significant damage. The vehicle is said to have overturned just before being towed down on the scene.
The two artists were rushed to Karen hospital reporting that Kidum suffered a fractured hand.
Reports circulated online raising concerns among public figures and fans . Environmentalist and social media influencer Victor Onjolo posted that musician Kidum and Brian Sigu had been involved in an accident adding that they were both safe though Kidum had reportedly broken his hand.
Also reacting to reports ODM communications director Philip Etale urged fans to pray for Kidum following the alleged accident.
However,singer Kidum dismissed reports that he was involved in an accident, saying the victim was another musician nicknamed "Kidum" by fans who knew him as a drummer. He wished the injured musician a quick recovery. In a Facebook statement on May 15th, Kidum confirmed that he had already left the country for a business trip in Asia before the incident happened .
The incident that shocked kidum's fans left a huge concern to his fans across East Africa where he was a standing artist whose songs inspired various people and this made Kidum remaining to be the region's most recognizable music figure.
Being known for his Agro-fusion and Zouk sound. The legendary artist,singer, drummer and songwriter built a successful music career. At the same time, his collaborations with artists such as Nameless and Juliana Kanyomozi of Uganda cemented his place in East African Music.
On his part, Brian Sigu is a contemporary Kenyan Benga and folk fusion musician, singer, composer and guitarist. He is widely celebrated for modernizing traditional Luo Musical arrangements by blending authentic cultural rythms with contemporary elements like jazz, blues and Afro-pop.
Authorities have not released an official report on the May 14 crash or confirmed the identity of the driver.
