Young Man Killed Over Soap Dispute in Busia.

Police in Bunyala Sub-County within Busia County are investigating the alleged killing of a young man by his companion after a heated argument over a piece of soap.
The incident occurred while the two were bathing at Marenga Beach along the shores of Lake Victoria. Officers are piecing together the sequence of events that turned a minor disagreement into a fatal confrontation.
According to Robert Alumasi, the local security official overseeing Bukhwanyanga area near the beach, the suspect hails from Sigulu Island in neighbouring Uganda. He reportedly became enraged when the other young man used his soap without asking for permission. What began as a verbal exchange quickly escalated into a physical fight between the two.
Around 10 p.m. the deceased, a resident of Ugenya Constituency in Siaya County, left the beach area after the argument. The suspect is alleged to have followed him carrying a club and struck him repeatedly, inflicting severe injuries. The attack left the victim in critical condition and unable to seek immediate help on his own.
Attempts to obtain emergency medical care proved unsuccessful because of an ongoing strike by health workers. Without access to treatment the injured man returned home, where he later succumbed to his wounds while resting. The lack of timely medical intervention is believed to have contributed directly to the tragic outcome.
Investigators continue to gather statements and examine the circumstances surrounding the dispute. The case highlights how a seemingly trivial conflict over a basic item can lead to irreversible loss of life, particularly when combined with limited access to healthcare services in the area. Further updates are expected as police complete their inquiries.
