Family of Late Rigathi Gachagua's Brother Writes to President Ruto Over Alleged Forged Will.

Today, Friday 27 March 2026, the family of the late former Nyeri Governor James Nderitu Gachagua has sent a formal letter to President William Ruto.
In the letter, dated 23 March 2026, they are asking the President to step in and order an independent investigation into claims of a forged will and stolen estate. They say a close relative has used intimidation, manipulation, and fraud to take over the late governor’s properties and disinherit the rightful family members.
The family, including immediate members like Margaret Nyokabi Nderitu and others, claims that the will being used is not genuine. They point out that the document is marked as a “Draft Last Will and Testament,” which they argue cannot be accepted as a final legal will. They accuse the relative of irregularly transferring assets, using proxies to defraud the estate, and causing financial losses to the true beneficiaries. The family says they have suffered greatly since Nderitu Gachagua’s death and are now seeking justice, protection, and the return of the stolen properties.
This development comes amid ongoing tensions in the Gachagua family and follows recent public exchanges involving Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who is the late Nderitu’s brother. The family has appealed to President Ruto through the Attorney General to ensure a fair probe and recovery of all assets. Many Kenyans are watching closely to see how the government will respond to this sensitive family dispute involving high-profile political figures.
