Godfrey Osotsi Vows He Won’t Be Intimidated After Ouster as ODM Deputy Party Leader

Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi was removed as the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) deputy party leader.

The decision was made on Friday, 27 March 2026, during the party’s Special National Delegates Conference at Jamhuri Grounds in Nairobi. Delegates rejected his nomination because he did not have a proposer and a seconder. Kisii Governor Simba Arati and Mombasa Governor Abdullswamad Nassir were elected as the new deputy party leaders.

After losing the position, Osotsi said he accepts the decision of the delegates but will not be intimidated. “I am not a politician who can be intimidated or governed by fear,” he stated. He added that he remains committed to democratic principles and the fight for a better Kenya. Osotsi also claimed he had earlier turned down an offer to become ODM Secretary General. He accused some forces of interfering in party affairs and deepening divisions within ODM.

The removal of Osotsi is part of the leadership changes happening in ODM following the death of Raila Odinga. On the same day, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna survived disciplinary action while Winnie Odinga congratulated her uncle, Dr Oburu Oginga, as the new party leader. Osotsi has called on his supporters to remain calm and focused as he continues to defend democracy. Many people are now watching to see what his next political move will be.
