Kenyan Star Amos Wanjala Seals Dream Move to Valencia CF

Kenyan football talent Amos Wanjala has completed his transfer to Spanish La Liga club Valencia CF, signing a two-year contract and receiving the No. 17 jersey.
The 19-year-old defender, who captains the Kenya U20 national team, was officially unveiled by Valencia ahead of their match against Barbastro in the Segunda RFEF - Group 3. He will begin his journey with the club's youth system, specifically integrating into VCF Mestalla (the Under-19 setup), with the ultimate goal of earning promotion to the senior first team.
Hailing from Makande in Mombasa and a former pupil at St Anthony’s Boys High School in Kitale, Wanjala has built an impressive pathway in European football. His European adventure started at the Nàstic Academy in Spain, where he quickly secured a professional deal with Athletic Club Torrellano CF within just six months. In 2025, he underwent training stints with Elche CF, though contractual hurdles blocked a permanent switch. Earlier links to a potential January 2026 move to UD Almería did not materialize, paving the way for this permanent academy move to Valencia.
His representative, Kenyan football agent David Kenga, celebrated the milestone in a statement: “It’s been a long wait, but eventually our boy Amos Wanjala has finalised his deal with Valencia. This is a very big step in his career. Our team worked day and night to ensure the deal went through so that he can continue progressing. This is a big moment for Kenya, for Amos, his family and for us as his representatives. We pray that, God willing, we will soon see him playing in La Liga with the first team.”
Wanjala's signing highlights the increasing presence of Kenyan youngsters in top European leagues, joining the likes of Kibet at Celta Vigo, Alvin Kasavuli at Nàstic Academy, and others making strides abroad. It underscores Kenya's growing reputation for producing high-potential football prospects capable of competing at elite levels.
No transfer fee was disclosed for the deal, which positions Wanjala for gradual development within one of Spain's historic clubs.
