Susan Kihika Tells Rigathi Gachagua to Return His Brother’s Property

Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika has joined the ongoing family dispute involving former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and the estate of his late brother, former Nyeri Governor James Nderitu Gachagua.
Speaking on Saturday, 28 March 2026, Kihika directly urged Gachagua to return the properties to the late governor’s wife and children. She questioned how a man could leave all his wealth to his brother’s family while excluding his own wife and children.
Kihika accused Gachagua of allegedly forging a will when he knew his brother was dying. She said the will excluded Nderitu’s immediate family and instead favoured Gachagua’s side. “Please return your brother’s property to his wife and children,” she stated, adding that it was unfair and wrong to disinherit the rightful beneficiaries.
This latest statement adds fuel to the public row that started when the late Nderitu Gachagua’s family wrote to President William Ruto seeking intervention over claims of a forged will and stolen estate. Rigathi Gachagua had earlier defended himself, saying the succession was done legally in 2018 and all beneficiaries agreed in court. The family dispute has now drawn in more political voices and continues to generate heated debate across the country.
