Uhuru Kenyatta Turns Down Unannounced Youth Visit to His Ichaweri Residence

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has respectfully declined a planned visit by a group of young Kenyans to his private home in Ichaweri, Gatundu, Kiambu County. According to a statement released by his Communication Secretary, Kanze Dena, on February 22, 2026, the proposed engagement was not communicated through official channels in advance. As a result, neither approval nor the required arrangements could be made to accommodate the group at this time.
The former head of state expressed genuine appreciation for the energy, innovative ideas, and strong sense of patriotism demonstrated by Kenya’s youth. He continues to value open, intergenerational discussions as an important foundation for the nation’s progress and remains committed to such exchanges. Nevertheless, he underscored that advance notice and proper coordination are essential to guarantee that any meeting is conducted in an orderly, secure, and mutually beneficial manner.
While the current visit request could not proceed, Uhuru Kenyatta reiterated his openness to future constructive engagements with young people. He invited interested youth groups to formally contact his office well in advance, enabling suitable planning that upholds dignity, fosters national unity, and ensures respectful dialogue across generations.
