Amisi Warns Sifuna Against Backing Gachagua for Presidency

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has strongly cautioned Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna against plans to remove President William Ruto and install former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in his place.
Speaking at a public event in his constituency, the outspoken lawmaker argued that dissatisfaction with the current leadership does not automatically mean Gachagua is the right alternative. Amisi, known for his role in various political movements, urged caution in forming new alliances.
Amisi made it clear that any effort to change the president should focus on finding a stronger candidate rather than turning to Gachagua, whom he referred to dismissively. He warned Sifuna that persisting with such a strategy could leave him isolated politically. This sharp exchange reflects deeper divisions within opposition circles as different groups position themselves ahead of future contests
The comments come amid Amisi's own fallout with the Linda Mwananchi movement, which he helped shape before accusing it of straying from its original goals. He has announced plans to launch a new initiative called Renaissance to pursue what he sees as the movement's true objectives. His stance has sparked debates, especially given his past appearances at events linked to broader opposition efforts.
This political back-and-forth highlights the fluid and often contradictory nature of alliances in the country’s dynamic landscape. As leaders trade barbs and reposition themselves, citizens watch closely to see how these shifts might influence national conversations on governance and leadership. The exchange between Amisi and Sifuna adds another layer to the ongoing debate about the future direction of opposition politics.
