BUSIA'S 2027 POLITICS TAKE SHAPE AS SIDAI OPPOSES OJAAMONG'S REPORTED SENATE BID

Sidai Opposes Ojaamong's reported Senate Bid
Former Lamu Port General Manager Engineer Vincent Sidai has criticized former Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong' following reports that the veteran politician could be eyeing the Busia Senate seat in the 2027 General Election.
Sidai claimed that Ojaamong' was seeking political support from the current governor, Dr. Paul Otuoma, in a move he described as an attempt by established leaders to maintain their grip on power. He argued that such an alliance would do little to address the challenges facing ordinary residents who continue to struggle with unemployment, poor infrastructure, and limited economic opportunities.
According to Sidai, many Busia residents had hoped for significant transformation under successive county administrations, but those expectations remain largely unmet. He said the county, despite its strategic location at Kenya's border with Uganda and its immense agricultural potential, has yet to fully realize the benefits of devolution.
"Busia people are yearning for leaders who will put their interests first and deliver tangible development," Sidai said, warning voters against supporting political arrangements that, in his view, only benefit a handful of individuals while leaving wananchi behind.
He urged residents to remain vigilant as the political season gathers momentum and to carefully evaluate the records of those seeking public office. Sidai maintained that leadership should be about service and results rather than political survival.
As the countdown to the next General Election slowly begins, Busia's political landscape appears set for a heated contest. Beyond personalities and party loyalties, however, many voters will be asking a simple question: Who has the vision and commitment to improve livelihoods and steer the county towards meaningful development?
For the people of Busia, the decisions made at the ballot box in 2027 may not only determine who occupies public office but also shape the county's development trajectory for years to come.
Meanwhile, among those expected to battle for the county's top seat are the current governor, Dr. Paul Otuoma, who is widely anticipated to seek a second term, PAS in the Execytive Office of the President Arthur Osiya, and Engineer Vincent Sidai himself, whose recent remarks have further fueled speculation over his political ambitions.
