DCP Official Arraigned in Kajiado Over Narcotics and Ammunition Possession

Stanley Kimure, a senior official in the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) and former aide to ex-Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, was arraigned at the Kajiado Law Courts on Thursday evening, April 9, 2026.
He faced charges of unlawful possession of narcotic drugs and ammunition. Kimure, who serves as the party's Director for Political Affairs, did not take a plea during the brief court session.
According to reports, Kimure was allegedly abducted in Kiambu County the previous day while in the company of Embakasi West MP Mark Mwenje. He was then held at Isinya Police Station in Kajiado before being presented in court. His lawyer, Ndegwa Njiru, raised preliminary objections, arguing that the court lacked moral authority to handle the case and that the arrest appeared politically motivated. The defense also claimed he should have been charged in the area where he was arrested.
The magistrate released Kimure on a cash bond of Ksh 150,000 with one surety of the same amount. He is expected to spend the night at Kajiado Police Station while bond processing is completed. The case was mentioned and will be heard further on April 15, 2026. Police have not yet released full details of the exact items recovered from him.
The incident has drawn attention due to Kimure’s close political links. His lawyer described the arrest as suspicious and questioned the circumstances surrounding it. Investigations into the matter are ongoing as the court process continues.
