Eliud Owalo Reveals Net Worth of Approximately KSh 1 Billion, Up from KSh 645 Million in 2022.

Former Deputy Chief of Staff for Delivery and Government Efficiency, Eliud Owalo, has disclosed that his personal net worth now stands at around KSh 1 billion. This marks a significant increase from the KSh 645 million he declared back in October 2022 during his parliamentary vetting for the Cabinet Secretary position in Information, Communication, and Digital Economy.
Owalo made the revelation during a recent appearance on Citizen TV's Sunday Live program on February 1, 2026. When asked about his current financial standing, he responded, “I am worth about 1 billion shillings right now.” The growth amounts to roughly KSh 355 million over the past 39 months (from late 2022 to early 2026), equivalent to an average monthly increase of about KSh 9.1 million.
In his 2022 declaration before the National Assembly committee, Owalo provided a detailed breakdown of his assets at the time, including:
A Nairobi residence valued at KSh 120 million
An upcountry residential house worth KSh 70 million
Upcountry land holdings estimated at KSh 200 million
Four vehicles totaling around KSh 15 million
A commercial tree-planting venture valued at approximately KSh 160 million (mentioned in some reports)
These combined to reach the KSh 645 million figure he reported then. He attributed much of his wealth accumulation to long-term investments in land, entry into the hospitality industry (including hotel ventures), and large-scale commercial tree planting.
Owalo did not offer a specific explanation for the recent jump in value during the latest interview, though he has previously emphasized that his financial status stems from pre-government business activities rather than public office. The timing of the disclosure comes shortly after his resignation from the Kenya Kwanza administration and his announcement of plans to vie for the presidency in the 2027 general election.
Beyond his business portfolio, Owalo highlighted his deep-rooted involvement in national institutions, particularly his three-decade support for Gor Mahia FC, which he described as a patriotic commitment dating back to the 1980s rather than any recent political ambition.
The announcement has drawn public attention, with discussions focusing on the rapid wealth growth amid his time in government roles. Owalo maintains that his personal finances and public service should be viewed separately from his longstanding contributions to sports and community life in Kenya.
