Mudavadi Declares ANC Merger with UDA Irreversible: "No Turning Back"

Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs CS Musalia Mudavadi has firmly reaffirmed his commitment to the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA), declaring that the integration of his former party, the Amani National Congress (ANC), into UDA is irreversible and a calculated strategic choice.
Speaking during a recent meeting with more than 200 supporters aligned with the "Musalia Power House for Ruto" initiative, Mudavadi emphasized his full support for President William Ruto's re-election campaign in the 2027 general elections. He described the decision to dissolve ANC and fully merge into UDA as a deliberate, future-oriented move rather than a hasty one.
"We opted for strategy instead of quick fixes," Mudavadi stated. "The dissolution of ANC was intentional and progressive. We're not glancing backward—like Lot's wife in the Bible. There's absolutely no reversing course."
Despite a recent High Court decision that invalidated the formal merger agreement from January 2025, Mudavadi insisted that the process adhered strictly to legal and constitutional requirements. He maintained that former ANC members are now completely incorporated into UDA, with no lingering issues or separate structures.
Mudavadi urged all present to register en masse with UDA, referring to it as their true political "home." He also stressed the importance of discipline within the party ranks and encouraged active participation in the ongoing voter registration drive organized by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The remarks come as Mudavadi continues to rally backing for President Ruto's agenda, positioning UDA as the unified platform for the ruling coalition's ambitions ahead of the next elections. This development highlights ongoing efforts to consolidate political forces under UDA in preparation for 2027.
