Namachanja High School Registers High Student Enrollment as It Strengthens Discipline, Staffing, and Infrastructure

Namachanja High School has recorded a steady rise in student enrollment this year, with the total student population now standing at 1,869 learners. The school has already admitted over 500 Grade 10 students, who form the first cohort under the new education system and currently make up the largest group in the institution.

Speaking during a meeting with parents and stakeholders, the school principal, Mr. Lucas Khakina, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to ensuring continued growth, discipline, and academic excellence.

“We are firm and fully prepared to ensure that Namachanja High School forges forward and continues to make positive progress academically and in discipline,” said Mr. Khakina.

The principal cautioned parents against allowing their children to misuse mobile phones, noting that phones are often used for negative purposes that interfere with learning and moral development.

“Parents should not allow their children to carry phones to school, as they are mostly used for bad motives that affect discipline and concentration in class,” he warned.

Mr. Khakina also discouraged parents from supporting any form of indiscipline or evil deeds among students, urging them instead to partner with the school in guiding learners.

“Discipline starts at home. When parents support wrong behavior, it becomes difficult for the school to correct the child,” he stated.

He appealed to parents to cooperate with the school by paying school fees on time, emphasizing that timely payments enable the institution to run its programs smoothly.

“Support from parents, especially in the payment of school fees, is very important for the success of our students and the smooth operation of the school,” he added.

Addressing staffing and academic preparedness, the principal noted that the school currently has 83 teachers who are well qualified and dedicated to supporting learners.

“We have 83 teachers who are competent and committed enough to ensure that the school achieves its goals and delivers quality education to our students,” Mr. Khakina said.

The principal further warned parents to be ready to receive their children if they are found in possession of mobile phones, as this is against school regulations. He also thanked officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and other security agencies for their continued support in maintaining discipline and safety within the school.

“We appreciate the DCI and security agencies for working closely with us to help curb notorious behavior and ensure the safety of our learners,” he said.

On infrastructure development, Mr. Khakina revealed that the school is in the process of establishing its own water source to address recurring water shortages.

“We are working towards having our own reliable water source to avoid shortages and improve hygiene, sanitation, and the overall learning environment,” he noted.

He concluded by urging parents to help their children change their mindset and embrace discipline, hard work, and positive values.

“Education is a shared responsibility. When parents and teachers work together, our children succeed,” he emphasized.

Namachanja High School remains one of the leading day secondary schools in Bungoma County and continues to attract a growing number of learners due to its strong focus on discipline, adequate staffing, academic excellence, and continuous improvement of facilities.
