President Ruto Targets 2-3 Million Vote Victory in 2027

President William Ruto has announced his goal for a commanding win in the 2027 General Election, aiming for a margin of 2 to 3 million votes, made possible through a potential coalition between his United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Speaking Monday at State House, Nairobi, during a UDA National Governing Council meeting, the President emphasized the need to expand the party's support base to foster national unity and build on the successes of the current broad-based government.
Ruto highlighted that the arrangement with ODM has proven effective, commending key figures like Treasury CS John Mbadi for their strong contributions in government.
"In the coming election, we want to win by a margin of between 2 and 3 million so that we unite the country and walk together. In the last election, we won by a margin of 200,000. There’s justification for us to consolidate the country into one," Ruto stated.
"This broad-based government has worked. Treasury CS John Mbadi and the others have done a good job."The President confirmed that talks are underway with ODM leadership to explore a formal coalition for the upcoming polls, with the aim of significantly widening their political reach.
He also urged Parliament to quickly advance the implementation of recommendations from the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report.
"We have agreed with the leadership of ODM to let us explore the option of having a coalition in the next election because we want to broaden our base," he added.
Ruto stressed the importance of strengthening UDA's grassroots organization to build a solid, committed membership. He argued that combining a broad coalition with robust party structures is essential for securing a clear mandate in 2027 and advancing the administration's long-term transformation goals.
On party matters, he underscored the value of grassroots elections, instructing that any polling centers with turnout below 50 participants must hold repeat votes. He noted that the party will strictly control nominations and re-run processes where needed.
"We have instructed NEB that any polling centre where fewer than 50 people voted, we repeat. We will repeat grassroots elections where less than 50 people participated," he said.
"All nominations will be determined by the party. We will re-do the nominations where they didn’t go well."
Regarding the economy, President Ruto voiced strong confidence in Kenya's future, predicting the country could achieve first-world status within the next 30 years.
He also announced plans to allow Kenyans to purchase shares in the Kenya Pipeline Company, describing it as a step toward increasing public ownership in key national assets.
