Sapiri Calls For Unity As Trans Nzoia Pushes Development And Security Reform.

Trans Nzoia County Liaison Officer Dan Sapiri has urged residents to embrace the leadership of Governor George Natembeya, despite what he termed as persistent challenges and sabotage by some tribal leaders.

Speaking to journalists from his office, Sapiri raised concern over increasing insecurity in parts of the county, particularly the Martisi–Forkland area, where a gang identified as Mbogi has allegedly been terrorizing residents and surrounding areas. He called on security agencies to intensify operations to restore peace and safeguard lives and property.

Sapiri praised Governor Natembeya for prioritizing education and water access, noting that the county government has ensured all schools in Trans Nzoia are equipped with water harvesting tanks and boreholes. He said the move has greatly improved the learning environment across the county.

The liaison officer further revealed that the county is set to distribute certified seeds, with over 10,000 residents per ward expected to benefit from the agricultural support program. He emphasized that agriculture remains the backbone of Trans Nzoia’s economy and urged residents to fully embrace the initiative.

Sapiri also called on President William Ruto to fulfill the promises he made to the people of Trans Nzoia during his visit to the county. He faulted some leaders — including Senator Allan Sang, Kakai Bisau, Lilian Sioyi, and their associates — accusing them of portraying the county negatively to the President, which he claimed has contributed to delays in development projects.

Additionally, Sapiri urged the President to release more than 18,000 title deeds that were initiated during the tenure of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, saying land ownership is key to economic empowerment and development.

On education matters, Sapiri appealed to the national government to improve school infrastructure, noting that existing facilities are inadequate to support the new education system. He also warned parents who deliberately keep their children out of school, describing the practice as harmful and unacceptable.

He encouraged youths aged 18 years and above to apply for national identity cards, emphasizing that IDs are crucial for accessing government services and participating in democratic processes.

Meanwhile, Sapiri noted that the county government has begun reopening long-stalled roads that had been abandoned for over 30 years, including the Nalulingo road, to enhance transport and stimulate economic activity.

He also urged drug enforcement agencies to act swiftly and secure the Suam border, warning that unregistered and illicit substances are finding their way into the country, threatening to destroy the younger generation, especially in Endebess.

Sapiri concluded by reaffirming that Trans Nzoia County remains Kenya’s food basket, calling for unity, peace, and cooperation among leaders and residents to sustain development and national food security.
