Wycliffe Oparanya Holds Breakfast Meeting with Western Caucus MPs

Former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya convened a breakfast consultative meeting with Members of Parliament from the Western Caucus.

The gathering brought together leaders from the region to discuss important matters affecting economic growth in Western Kenya. The talks centred on practical ways to strengthen key sectors that directly touch the lives of ordinary citizens in the area.

A major part of the discussions focused on cooperatives and the ongoing efforts to revive the coffee sector. Leaders also looked at ways to give better support to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, commonly known as MSMEs. These businesses and cooperative societies were identified as vital engines for creating jobs, promoting inclusive development, and improving household incomes at the grassroots level. The meeting explored real strategies that could help these sectors grow and become more sustainable in the coming years.

Participants agreed that empowering cooperatives and MSMEs remains central to unlocking the region’s full economic potential. By focusing on these areas, the leaders hope to create more opportunities for young people and families, leading to better livelihoods across Western Kenya. The conversations were described as constructive and aimed at finding solutions that can deliver lasting benefits to the region.

The meeting also touched on the broader political future of the Mulembe Nation. Leaders emphasised the need for unity, strategic positioning, and protecting the collective interests of the region as the country moves forward. Oparanya ended his update with the optimistic Swahili phrase “Kwa Hakika, Mbele Kuzuri!” which translates to “Surely, the road ahead is bright!”

This kind of engagement among regional leaders highlights the growing effort to put Western Kenya’s development needs at the centre of national conversations. Many residents will be watching to see how the ideas discussed during the breakfast meeting are turned into concrete actions in the months ahead.
