A Woman in Bungoma Has Launched a 74-hour tree-hugging marathon.

A 23-year-old resident of Tongaren Constituency, Bungoma has initiated a 74-hour tree-hugging protest to highlight the issue of corruption in public institutions.
The demonstration which is underway along the railway line across from Posta Grounds in Bungoma town. Flora Onyango, who hails from Mbakalo Ward in Tongaren Constituency, has committed to holding onto a tree continuously for three full days.
Onyango explained that this symbolic action is designed to capture public focus on what she calls rampant corruption across the nation and to urge authorities to act decisively.
“I have come here to undertake a 74-hour tree-hugging challenge to raise awareness about the massive corruption in the country and to call on our leaders to intervene and help fight corruption,” she said.
She directly called on anti-corruption bodies to step up their work in tackling graft. While her roots are in Tongaren, Onyango traveled from Nairobi to stage the protest in her home county, noting that doing so adds greater significance to her stand.
She also stated that she plans to abstain from both food and water for the entire duration of the challenge. Onyango noted that her family has been fully briefed on her plans and location.
According to her, the protest officially started at precisely 1:04 p.m. and is scheduled to conclude at the same time on Wednesday. She has designated someone to keep track of the timing and document the progress.
