Susan Nakhumicha Calls for Stronger National-County Collaboration in Trans Nzoia

Former Cabinet Secretary for Health and current Kenya’s Permanent Representative to UN-Habitat, Susan Nakhumicha, has strongly emphasized the importance of close cooperation between the national government and county governments for successful implementation of development projects
Speaking during a public engagement in Chebarus area of Trans Nzoia County, Nakhumicha pointed out that the county has continued to lag behind in development largely because of the strained working relationship between Governor George Natembeya and leaders in the national government. She argued that such poor relations have hindered progress and denied residents the full benefits of national development initiatives.
Nakhumicha assured the people of Trans Nzoia that if they elect her as the county’s third Governor in the 2027 General Election, she will prioritize collaboration with the national government to fast-track development. She promised to transform the county by rolling out impactful projects across key sectors such as health, infrastructure, agriculture, water, and education. According to her, these initiatives will be designed to directly benefit local communities and change the face of Trans Nzoia for the better, moving away from the current slow pace of growth.
The former Health CS urged residents to support a leadership that fosters unity and partnership between the two levels of government. She expressed confidence that with her experience in both national and international roles, she has the capacity to deliver tangible results and bring meaningful development to the county. Her remarks come as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 polls, with Nakhumicha positioning herself as a strong contender for the gubernatorial seat.
